Carrie Stevens Streamer Fly Tying Class Details

Saturday November 9th will be the last fly tying class I will be doing in 2019 at FlyMasters of Indianapolis.  With the holidays coming up most people will be too busy with so many other aspects of their lives that a fly tying class will be way down on the totem pole of priorities that after mid-November most classes are pretty empty.  But, since it is only the beginning of November it is a great time to grab your vise and some tools and head to FlyMasters to tie some flies.  Class this Saturday will be on tying Carrie Stevens streamers.  We will tie up three wonderful patterns and discuss the similarities, differences and all things that make these uniquely Carrie Stevens.

The three patterns for the class are the Allie’s Favorite, Don’s Delight and the Wizard.  I have already posted a video on tying the Allie’s Favorite and Don’s Delight and a video on tying the Wizard will be posted on Sunday.  All materials for the class are provided with the following exceptions, each tier will need to bring,

  • A tying vise
  • Thread (Danville 6/0 or equivalent 70 denier in Black and White and Red)
  • Basic Head Cement
  • sharp scissors
  • Bobbin
  • Bodkin
  • Whip Finish tool
  • hackle pliers

The class will begin at 1:00 pm and the cost of the class is $35.00.  It is best to contact FlyMasters (317-570-9811) and reserve a seat ahead as this classes can fill up quickly.  The class will end “around” 4:00 pm(ish) depending on how many people attend and how much conversation is taking place.  The more the merrier!

Spoiler alert…. I kind of got on a Carrie Stevens kick in the last few weeks.  There will  be videos for five other Carrie Stevens patterns after the three for this class!  Her flies and many others from all over the Rangeley Lake region are just beautiful flies and so much fun to tie.  It gets kind of hard to stop.  Hope to see you in class!
