Tying Video – Ed Story’s Crackleback

Tying Ed Story’s Crackleback is the latest tying video from Dressed Irons.  If you do not know about the Crackleback it is one of the most versatile flies ever created.  A very simple fly in it’s design, utilizing basic tying materials but it can produce all sorts of variations for any number of fishing conditions.  Plus, the basic Crackleback will cover almost 90% of your fishing needs because it can be fished as a dry fly, a wet fly or even a nymph!

Tying the Crackleback is not difficult either.  It is a great beginner fly as it uses techniques that are common to many different fly patterns.  If you are not a new fly tier but would like to work on your skills to improve your tying the Crackleback is a perfect fly.  You can easily tie up five or six flies in a half hour.  Do that everyday for a month and you will be amazed at how much your basic fly tying skills will have improved. So, as I mentioned before… the Crackleback is one of the most versatile flies ever created.  Start tying some up!

There is a Step by Step article on tying the Crackleback if you prefer that format.  I recommend you read/watch both the article and the video for a complete understanding of how the fly is tied. Also, if you would rather, you can purchase some Cracklebacks here at Dressed Irons (while supplies last).

As always, if you have any questions about this fly (or any other) you can leave a comment on Dressed Irons or any of the videos I have produced and I will help in anyway I can.   Enjoy!

Remember…..  It’s Fly tying…..  If you’re not having fun, You’re Doin’ It Wrong.
