Tying Video – The Pink Pup

Just a quick note about this weeks fly.  First, the video is out on The Pink Pup.  I have not tied this fly before nor fished it.  This fly, plus the next few flies, are part of Bucktail Streamer class I am doing at a local fly shop this September.  I have already done a couple bucktail streamer videos here at Dressed Irons but for this class I wanted to do some new flies.  The Pink Pup is the first of the three flies I will be doing in class.  I very much enjoyed tying this fly.  It is not difficult so long as you take your time and watch the clumps of bucktail.  It is an interesting half body of mylar and floss.  All in all, looking forward to this class in a few weeks.

I have three more bucktail streamer fly videos in the next few weeks.  Two of the bucktail flies will also be in the class and there is bonus fourth fly.  All of these flies were taken from the book by Mike Valla, Tying & Fishing Bucktails and Other Hair Wings.  If you enjoy these more “traditional” streamers this is a wonderful book that does a great job of explaining how these flies are put together, fished as well as their history.

As always, if you have any questions about this fly (or any other) you can leave a comment on Dressed Irons or any of the videos I have produced and I will help in anyway I can.   Enjoy!
