Bucktail Streamer Class Details

On September 14th I will be teaching a Bucktail Streamer Class at FlyMasters of Indianapolis.  I have chosen three wonderful bucktail flies that will not only introduce tiers to some classic streamers and the fun of tying bucktail streamers but also provide some very productive fly patterns.  Streamer season is starting here in central Indiana and I know I am planning on swinging all of these flies for some Smallies (and maybe a trout or two) this fall.

Each of the flies in the class have some interesting techniques and construction that I am certain will broaden everyone’s fly tying knowledge.  Plus, there will be a fourth pattern provided in the recipe handout sheet that will have a video here on Dressed Irons!  Each of the flies in the class will also have an accompanying video on Dressed Irons (and YouTube) so you can refer back to it when you actually tie any of the flies at home.  The class will be from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm (ish) and cost $35.00.  If you are planning on attending You should call ahead (317-570-9811) and pay for the class, it will reserve you a seat.

All materials are provided for all of the flies we will tie but you will need to bring a few things for the class.  You will need to have the following,

  • A Fly Tying Vise
  • Bobbin
  • Thread (Wapsi 140 denier, Black & White, Wapsi 70 Denier, Black, White and Red)
  • Scissors, sharp with a fine point
  • Head Cement
  • Hair Stacker, Large size for Bucktail

Class may run over a bit if many people show up and everyone gets to talking so plan on being at FlyMasters past 4:00 pm.

If you have any questions about the class do not hesitate to contact me here at Dressed Irons.  This class will be great fun and is not one to be missed.  Hope to see you Saturday.

Be Well.
